The first day of our conference will be held on April 13 at 7 PM. The Nau Center will officially launch its Black Virginians in Blue (BVIB) digital project. The project chronicles the experiences of 256 Black soldiers and sailors from Albemarle County, Virginia, before, during, and after the American Civil War. Join us for a conversation with historians Elizabeth R. Varon and William B. Kurtz as well as a short demonstration of BVIB’s website.
The conference's second day will take place on April 14 also at 7PM. Nau Center Director Caroline E. Janney will host a conversation with historians Holly Pinheiro, Amy Murrell Taylor, and Emmanuel K. Dabney about their research on the African American experience in the Civil War.
Registration is required and attendees need to register only once to attend one or both days of the conference.
