20S Networks CS 4457 - Shared screen with speaker view
There are a number of unaddressed questions on Piazza concerning Midterm 2 grading/answers and the final project. Will you or the TA address these soon?
Should we be forming groups?
Do we need to have 4, or can it be between 2 and 4?
Can you make the instructions for the Torrent client modification project available even if it's not going to be graded?
Are you by default in a torrent
Or how do you join a turrent?
Once a client is in the torrent does it still need to make contact with the tracker for any reason?
Do all peers have the entire table? Or is it chunked just like the torrent itself?
What are the keys tracking again? The peers themselves?
So are the values the set of peers that have parts of that file?
how are the peer IDs assigned?
But wouldn't 12 know that 1's predecessor could wrap around and be larger?
Can everyone have everyone's key?
Could you do something like a binary search query?
Is there some way to use a binary search?
binary search in the ID space
You could maybe get linear factor of time reduction by having each peer track 2+ predecessors and successors and then jumping more than 1 peer at a time
How does this network structure handle clients dropping out?
do you also have to know two predecessors?
And 3s successor’s successor becomes 8 right?
On a separate note, could you post the slides after class so we could click back through them and get notes we missed?
How do you get files to share with others in the first place? And if you aren't optimistically unchoked, do you have a hope of ever getting what you need?
Can you upload the pdf too
Of the slides?
Thanks have a good day
